Full Face of NYX & Max Factor : Weekly Makeup Bag Wk 7

This week I mixed & matched a bit. Max Factor is a range that is looked over a lot I feel. And NYX is really popular so I thought I’d put the two together & see if Max’s maturity rubbed off on NYX’s youthful exuberance.

For Primer I started with Max Factor’s Facefinity All Day Primer. I’m nearly finished this which means a lot. There are very few primers that I have finished as I keep trying out others. It is a lovely moisturising primer & combined with Max Factor Facefinity All Day Flawless 3 in 1 Foundation, Primer & Concealer it made for a really lovely base. My skin looked healthy and it pretty much lasted all day & even when it did break down it broke down really nicely if there is such a thing.

I really enjoyed the NYX Wonder Stick. In the tube the contour side looks kind of warm but on the skin it makes for a really subtle contour that blends so easily to give a lovely daytime appropriate look. The concealer end is horrible for concealer in my opinion, its too thick & drags my skin. But I absolutely loved it as an eye primer though. As my eyes are very sensitive the only way to stop them watering is to use a think primer & this was perfect. My eye shadow went on lovely on top & lasted all day without creasing.  The NYX Stay Matte But Not Flat Powder Foundation wasn’t bad. It didn’t cake up on me and aided with the lasting power of my make up & helped my other products go on nicely.

For Contour I alternated between The NYX Highlight & Contour Palette & NYX Blush in Taupe. I really wish the cool toned colour in the palette had been The Taupe “Blush” but unfortunately it was a bit warmer. The bronzers were OK, some were way too dark but would then obviously suit darker skin tones. The Highlights were subtle & suited my pale skin. The two plain face powders were nothing special. Over all I was underwhelmed. I guess this would be great for a make up artist but this isn’t marketed to them it’s marketed to us. The regular Joe Soap public. I can’t blame the company & their clever marketing department. I can only blame myself & let it be a lesson to me not to sucked in again! I’m going to stick with my Taupe blush from now on.

The NYX Born To Glow Liquid Illuminator is lovely both mixed in with foundation & put on just underneath it on the high points of the face. The NYX Strobe of Genius Palette was one that I fell victim to the hype. I had seen it as a lot of you-tuber favorites of 2016. But I have to be honest I just don’t get the fuss! The Sleek Solstice Palette if far superior in my opinion. The Max Factor Colour Corrector for Redness was fine. A bit hard to blend in but didn’t make me look ill underneath it which some of these type of products can do to me.

Last but by absolute no means least on the face I used the Max Factor Creme Puff Blush in Gorgeous Berries. I love these blush’s. This is my third one from the range I’ve already used up Lavish Mauve & Lovely Pink. They apply beautifully & last throughout the day. Highly recommend!

On my eyes I used The Max Factor Masterpiece Nude Palette  in 03 Rose Nudes. These are nearly too creamy & buttery! Who knew there was such a thing. When you press your finger in it can bunch together nearly like a cream but when you put your brush in they kick up some amount of powder! Very odd. But, when you kick off the excess powder I really enjoyed these. The matte’s blend really nice & the shimmers really pack a punch.

I’ve been curious about the NYX Jumbo pencils so I picked up a few. The Milk one is iconic for intensifying the look of colour shadows & it definitely does that. The other two, Purple Velvet & Yogurt, were duds. They blended OK but they didn’t last well at all. they creased up & looked really bad as the day went on.

The NYX Wonder Pencil is another hyped up product that disappointed me. I much prefer the Rimmel Scandaleyes in Nude, it’s much creamier & doesn’t pull & scratch the waterline like this one does. The NYX Slide on Glide on Pencil in Brown Perfection is no better or worse than any other. It gets the job done. I enjoyed the NYX Micro Brow Pencil in Brunette. My only complaint is a personal one where I don’t have enough time in the morning for the time & effort the pencil takes.

The NYX Butter Gloss’s are cult classics with good reason they are pigmented & last a long time for a gloss. I wasn’t as big a fan of the Soft Matte Lip Cream but that’s more to with me not liking matte formula’s. The colour did last for a good 4/5 hrs which was impressive & it wore off nicely. The High Voltage Lipstick was more like a tinted balm. Felt nice on the lips but wore off really quickly & the Turbo Lip Pencil was a mess, it went everywhere! Way too soft for purpose.

So that was this weeks make up bag. Have you used any of the products mentioned? Do you agree / disagree with me?? Is there anything here you’d like a more in depth review on?? I’d really love to know 🙂

  1. I absolutely love NYX! I really have been wanting to try that contour palette and as well that Max Factor Face Finity primer has been calling my name for months now, haha. I gotta try it! x
