For my birthday my Hubby gave me money to buy something frivolous and not something I needed. So I chose this and I’m so delighted I did!
Lets start with the Packaging. The box mimics the interior. And the interior is beautiful. It looks like a chocolate bar that has been dunked in molten gold.
Yes it does pick up finger prints but it’s easy to clean again. I’m delighted to say as well that Too Faced have finally expanded & improved the mirror that in other chocolate was sub par!
Onto the Swatches:
Lads. LADS!! I can’t even explain how beautiful & pigmented these shadows are. Every last one is stunning. I had bought the Urban Decay Vice Palette a couple of years ago, expecting this, but was so disappointed by the pigmentation. This Gold bar palette is what I had wanted that palette to be.
All my other palettes are pretty much basic palettes. Like the original Chocolate bars or Modern Renaissance etc. So either warm , cool or neutral toned but not particularly colourful. And I really wanted something fun & colorful.
After swatching you can see the palette looks a bit messy. There is some kick up and some of the shadows are very soft but I really couldn’t care less!
This, like the others, smells like chocolate but not as strong as the others. It is also apparently infused with actual gold ooooohhhhh. Ya whatever I don’t really care to be honest 😀
I much prefer the Insert in this palette as well. I prefer that it is an actual look & real eye as opposed to the cartoon style eye in the other palettes.
I have used nearly every single colour so far & there isn’t one that I don’t like. The mattes are perfect transition shades for every look. I don’t need to dip into another palette to create a look. They are all so incredibly pigmented. I would recommend you apply these shadows before doing your foundation as there is a lot of fall out with some of the colours.
Also if you have a glitter glue it will help your look to stay put. I have also found that using my finger works great when applying these or those little foam applicators that you usually throw out!
Overall there is nothing I would change about this palette! I am absolutely in love! I can put together a fairly basic daytime look or go wild with some fun nighttime colours. I literally smile every time I sit down to play with this & isn’t that what make up should be about!?
Have you tried this? Do you want to you? If you have it are you a fan or no?
