My Favourite Products of 2017!

I was humming and hawing as to whether I’d do this post or not. I don’t have a favourite for every category like most people do, but I thought what the hell, these were my favourites so why not ! Ok favourite has stopped having meaning and no longer looks like it’s spelled right! Does that ever happen to you?!?

Right on to the products!

First up is my favourite eyeshadow palette, The Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette.

I love the array of colours in this. I’ve done basic everyday looks. I’ve done looks with a pop of green or purple and finally a Smokey eye. I love the scent, I know some wouldn’t be so keen on it.

These blend beautifully, and have great colour pay off. The only problem I have with these is my eyes can be a bit sensitive towards them so I have to be careful not to let them get into my eyes.

And these are my fav brushes to use with it and in general. The Blank Canvas Double ended blending brush is just right, not too soft and not too stiff.

The Penney’s double ended brush is perfect for packing the cream shade all over the eye and the other end is perfect for faux liner.

The Real Techniques little smudge brush I love for smudging colour under the eye.

And finally! The brush we usually dump!! I’ve found this year that these foam brushes are perfect for packing shimmer on the lid. A revelation!!

The Sweet Peach and the Kat Von D Shade & Light Eyeshadow Palette are the two I bring everywhere with me.

Speaking of which, I don’t think there is a more perfect matte palette than this one from Kat Von D.

I love all the different tones. They blend like a dream and it is, in my opinion , the perfect companion palette.

Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel! This was my biggest splurge of last year. I had lusted after this for months. I finally got my hands on it and then I didn’t know what to do with it 😀.

But as time went by I watched some YouTube videos and read some blogs, asked some questions and played around with it.

Eventually I found the right brush, this Real Techniques Stipple Brush, and realised it was best to use it under my foundation. Or if you are going for a no makeup day in the summer it’s actually really lovely on its own. I typically wear Factor 50 on my face so it can look ghostly in comparison to my body. This warms me up nicely.

This Setting powder from e.l.f. is my fav for under the eyes. It’s very finally milled and brightens the under eye. And using this Real Techniques Setting brush makes the perfect combo.

I’ll be honest I was predisposed to disliking this. I had tried both the red and white capped versions of this and disliked them intensely. My face felt mask like.

But not with this. The Rimmel Lasting Finish Breathable Foundation. This is a medium coverage foundation. It feels like water on the face and I have to say I thoroughly enjoy it.

The wand is a bit messy though. So be warned.

This product really helped up my eyeliner game. It’s from Inglot and is a gel eyeliner. When I say it upped my game I of course mean I had no game! Combined with this Real Techniques Bold Metals 202 brush I can actually manage eyeliner that I can actually leave the house with!!!

I’ve tried a lot of different eyebrow products over the last year. This NYX Micro Brow Pencil is by far the best. It has a very small, fine nib that is just the right consistency. Not so soft that it goes everywhere and not so hard you actually hurt yourself!

It gives me the most natural of looks. I often combine it with my Kat Von D Eyeshadow palette if I want a more defined brow and this brow brush from Penneys is perfect for this. So good I have three!!

Real Techniques Powder Brush is the only one I use for powder bronzer. I love it so much I bought a second so when one is being washed I have a back up. It’s just the perfect size for dispersing product around the perimeters of the face while perfectly blending the product in.

I’d added this to my project pan last year and through continuous use every day realised I absolutely love it. It’s the L’Oréal Lumi Magique Primer. It gives the most beautiful radiance to the skin and makeup sits lovely on top.

This is actually empty which is why it looks so gross but as soon as I work through others in my collection I will be repurchasing.

I haven’t a picture of it on here cause it’s filthy and in need of a wash but the Ecotools Beauty sponge is my favourite of the ones I’ve tried. Dense enough not to soak up all your foundation but soft enough not to feel like you’re being punched in the face!

The best Setting Spray I’ve used to date is The Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray. I definitely notice a difference in my makeup with this. It softens out powdery makeup and I really feel it makes my makeup last. There is alcohol in it as with a lot of Setting sprays but it doesn’t make my face feel tight.

Another product I keep a back up of. The Wet N Wild Max Volume Plus Mascara. This never smudges on me. Holds a curl the best of ones I’ve tried so far. It separates my lashes, makes them nice and black and just works for me. I’ve tried a lot of mascara’s this year, both high end and drugstore but this is the one I keep going back to.

Finally a couple of skincare items. I’ve been using Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream for about 15 years. It’s such a multi purpose item. It helps with chapped lips, chapped hands, sunburn ( amazing ! Put it on going to bed and skin is so much better in the morning and NO peeling), as an overnight face mask, to give a sheen to the cheeks. The list is endless!!!

Bioderma Hydrabio Serum is like a drink of water for my skin. This one is nearly empty and I’m currently using a spatula to scrape the last of it out. I went through three of these last year.

Nuxe Rieve De Miel is a wonderful lip balm. I use it every night, it’s a bit thick for daytime, and my lips have never been better. It’s a bit on the pricer side but it lasts me about 18 months.

So that’s it. These were the products that I found myself reaching for over everything else in my stash and that I truly enjoy using and would replace as soon as I ran out of it.

What were your favourites of the year?? I’d love to know what I should be keeping an eye out for this year!

    1. *With a few pop of colour, also that nyx brow is quite handy, I might have to look in to, love eco tool brushes too they make good brushes plus it’s affordable and yes the urban decay setting is quite good, it is the only make-up setting spray I have tried and it lasted a good couple of hours. Nice list!
