Having picked up some bits in Sephora when I was in France in the summer I felt it was time to Review the Shade & Light eye-shadow palette which I have had since last Christmas & the other few bits altogether.
I’ll start with the Powder & work my way through & finish with the palette.
Kat Von D Lock It Loose Translucent Powder:
Claims: Experience a next level setting powder. Kat Von D’s innovative formula uses delicate mica powders rather than the heavy, chalky binding ingredients found in other powders—reducing the weight by 30 percent. This prevents the dry, chalky finish most powders leave behind, and instead delivers a perfectly smooth, seamless look, with the same number of uses.
This silky, non-drying powder features Micro-Blurring Technology to softly diffuse pores for a refined, selfie-ready finish. Formulated to be undetectable on all skin tones, Lock-It Setting Powder has a complexion-boosting blend of mattifying particles to smooth imperfections and lock-in your look for a velvety matte finish. For flawless all-over setting, apply with the Lock-It Setting Powder Brush. To bake or set under-eye concealer, use the Lock-It Precision Powder Brush.
For a translucent powder this was a tad yellow toned. It goes on nice & especially underneath the eye area it helps curtail creasing. The skin doesn’t look powdery & other powder products go on top of it nicely.
My only complaint is that after 8 hours wear my T-zone was extremely shiny which was where I had concentrated the bulk of the product & was really the purpose of it. So I’m not sure for that reason that I would buy the full size of this.
Ink Liner in Trooper: Let me start by saying I am absolutely shit at eyeliner and to be honest this didn’t make it any easier! To be fair this didn’t skip on the lid, or at least it didn’t until I got to me droppy ass outer eyelids. I just think I need to give up on liquid eyeliner, if I can’t get this , one of the most iconic eyeliners to work than it’s time! If anyone has tips on how to apply eyeliner to mature dropping hooded eyes I’d be eternally grateful.
Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in ”Bow N Arrow,”: This has a lovely vanilla scent to it. It goes on very smoothly & the applicator makes it easy to apply. It is very dry but aren’t they all!?! Although I did notice that my lips kept sticking together, even an hour later. Odd I thought. The colour took me a while to get used to. It pulled very brown on me, which gave my horror flash back to the 90’s. My lips also looked very dry.
I eventually put some lip gloss over the top which made it feel more comfortable & look less dry. I was under the impression that this was budge proof but I ate my dinner, not particularly oily, but it was all gone but for around the edge. Now the colour was good in that you didn’t notice from a distance but it was kinda disappointing, I wouldn’t bother buying others from the range.
So last but not least The Shade & Light Eye Shadow Palette: I really love this palette! I find myself more drawn to it overall in the autumn / winter but there are so many wonderful transition shades in it that it’s a great companion palette for all year round.
The yellow/banana shade is a fantastic all over the lid shade & I usually use a mix of the brown powders to fill in my eyebrows.
All the shadows in this are so easy to blend. And the variety of colours make it so that you can create warm , cool or neutral looks. Can do a very smokey or simple day time look.
This is one of my absolute favourite palettes & I have a lot so that’s saying a something!
I had been keen to try the Lock It Foundation but when I swatched it I couldn’t believe how thick & opaque it was so I left it behind me.
Have you many products , if any, do you have from this range? What do you think of them? IF you don’t own any, do you want to? If so what are they?? Enable me 🙂
