As part of my weekly make up bag I get to try out a foundation properly for a full week, trying it every which way and putting it through it’s paces.
1st up is Maybelline Fit Me Matte & Poreless in shade 115.
The claims:
Fit Me Matte & Poreless has been designed for normal to oily skin. Its blurring micro powders refines pores while shine is being absorbed for a natural matte finish. Fit Me Matte & Poreless foundation fits both skin and texture for natural finish and poreless looking skin.
So my skin would have an oily T-Zone and the rest of it is pretty normal. If I don’t mind it I can get some dry flakey patches, but I usually keep pretty on top of it.
Day 1 (why do I always follow this up in my head with “in the big brother house!)
- Used Wet n wild primer underneath.
- Squeezed some on to my foundation palette (sounds fancy but it’s not it’s from Primark 😉) & used Round topped foundation brush to buff it in
- Set over the top with Laura Mercier loose powder
- Finished off with Urban Decay allnighter fixing spray.
I found that it Oxidised badly, got very orangey, it broke down on my nose & chin by lunchtime ( about 6 hours after application)
Day 2:
Same as above except for:
- Added Urban Decay Allnighter foundation to try and improve colour & longevity.
- Used a flat topped kabuki brush
It definitely lasted longer & the colour was better. But this is more than likely due to addition of UD foundation.
Still broke down and oxidised but not as badly
Day 3:
Same as day 1 except for:
- Switched primer to Clarins beauty balm
- Used damp sponge to apply
Nope, oxidised , broke down & if anything emphasis’s pores!
Day 4:
Same as day 1 except for:
- I decided that maybe if I stuck to the same brand might help so tried Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser Primer
Seemed to last a bit better but it’s a bit too little too late, I’m having to work too hard and I’m just not feeling it. Don’t even want to do a day 5 😟
Day 5:
I’ve decided to go all in!
- Maybelline primer
- UD all nighter foundation mixed in
- Face oil
- Laura Mercier loose powder
- No setting spray
- I used the flat topped kabuki Brush to apply and sponge to blend
DISASTER!!!!!!
I made the huge mistake of going to a beauty counter after work and was equall parts horrified & mortified when I looked in her mirror. It was a horror show.
So yeah, this was not the best of starts but I am going to keep on to this until the summer and revisit it.
Have you tried this foundation ? Did you have a better or worse experience ? Am I doing something wrong? I’d love to know 😊
I tried it last year and wasn’t too impressed! Love that Urban Decay one I wish it wasn’t so pricey!

You really did try!! Great to see which ways you tried out though, pity it didn’t fulfill you needs… but same here I must admit! This foundation lies in my beautycase, nearly untouched!!! Should chuck it out I guess…

I decluttered it , there are some that are only ok that I keep and mix with others but this one had to go!!

I don’t like this foundation either! It just didn’t seem to work or settle on my skin. Glad I’m not the only one who struggled!

I think that most people didn’t like it, I read a lot of bad reviews so never picked it up. xx

And yet loads of youtubers seem to rave about, maybe the American version is different?!?

I think that most people especially bigger youtubers get paid to talk about products in good light, that’s why I usually watch smaller youtubers. Also everyone skin is different, so that’s always a reason. xx

I agree 100% I’ve unsubbed from loads of bigger youtubers and am sticking to smaller ones and I’m enjoying them more . The bigger ones nowadays seem like they are all reading off the same script with the exact same content!

Can’t agree more. I did the whole subscription cleanse a year ago and now I’m watching people with up to 10k subscribers. They are always honest are genuine. xx

Thank you so much. If a foundation isn’t working for me in the normal sense I like to give it a fair go trying out with other products.

I also used it and I didn’t find it particularily bad, it was okay. But there are so many other foundations (even in the same price range) that do a better job, so I’m not really reaching for the maybelline one anymore. I think it’s great that you tested it with a lot of different products, it makes for a much more in depth review 🙂 S. xx
